Manželia Vincent a Jarmila Sekerovci žijú v Timravanoch, malom mestečku v nešpecifikovanom kúte Slovenska, dostatočne ďaleko od Bratislavy (miestni si na označenie „mesto“ potrpia, v skutočnosti však Timravany vykazujú všetky znaky dediny), už celú večnosť. Vincent je najväčší škrob v meste a jeho najčastejšia veta znie „Určite je to drahé“, Jarmila naopak pokojná a dobrá duša, rada háčkuje a šéfuje miestnemu spevokolu. Nuž a obaja spolu vedú rodinný biznis – malé mäsiarstvo. Sekerovci majú tri deti. Dcéra Betka je v tínedžerskom veku, pohŕda rodinou a čo najskôr sa chce dostať z malého mestečka preč. Syn Pavol alias Pipo je futbalista, rebel a trošku „vyšinutý". Pomáha otcovi v mäsiarstve. Najstarší syn Jano sa po rokoch strávených v Bratislave rozhodol vrátiť do rodného mestečka, kde si spolu s manželkou Júliou plánuje postaviť dom. Zatiaľ však naň ešte stále šetria, takže v rámci náhradného riešenia bývajú u jeho rodičov...
