Malá zašitá videopožičovňa plná už nemoderných VHS potrebuje zmenu. Majiteľ sa vydá na prieskumy konkurencie a požičovňu zverí dočasne do rúk svojmu pomocníkovi Mikeovi. Nemotorný Mikeov kamarát Jerry sám seba zmagnetizuje pri pokuse sabotovať elektráreň a pri najbližšej návšteve požičovne nechtiac vymaže obsah všetkých videopások. Mike nechce sklamať majiteľa a tak mu nezostáva nič iné, než vziať do ruky kameru a začať nakrúcať vlastné verzie filmov ako Krotitelia duchov či 2001: Vesmírna odysea v domácich podmienkach. Filmy majú medzi zákazníkmi nečakaný úspech a návšteva na miestnom úrade ich presvedčí o tom, že musia v točení pokračovať až kým nezarobia dostatok peňazí na záchranu svojej požičovne.

With his family mired in financial troubles, Domenico moves to Milan, Italy, from his small town to get a job in lieu of furthering his education.
