V prvej časti záverečného dielu strhujúcej romance s názvom Twilight sága: Úsvit sa Bella Swan a Edward Cullen po svadbe vydávajú na svadobnú cestu do Ria de Janeira, kde sa konečne, mimo všetkého a všetkých, môžu naplno oddať svojej láske. Ich šťastie ale netrvá dlho. Bella zmietaná prudkou vášňou k upírovi Edwardovi, ale zároveň úprimnou náklonnosťou k vlkolakovi Jacobovi Blackovi, čoskoro zistí, že čaká dieťa. Tehotenstvo s upírom však pre ňu znamená fatálnu hrozbu. Čaká ju teda búrlivý rok plný lásky, pokušenia i strát. Musí sa definitívne rozhodnúť, či vstúpi do temného, ale lákavého sveta nesmrteľných, alebo či bude žiť plnohodnotným ľudským životom. Nevyhnutnosť tohto rozhodnutia sa vinie celým Belliným príbehom ako červená niť, na ktorej visia osudy oboch kmeňov - upírov i vlkolakov. A akonáhle sa Bella rozhodne, dôjde k celému radu nečakaných udalostí, ktoré môžu mať hrozné následky.

Pre Kevina McCallistera vyhliadky na tieto Vianoce nevyzerajú práve ružovo. Jeho rodičia Peter a Kate už žijú osem mesiacov oddelene a doma čelí ťažkej konkurencii svojich starších súrodencov. Aj bez toho je však život bez otca pre Kevina obtiažny a tak nad pozvaním otca a jeho novej zazobanej priateľky Natalie príliš dlho neuvažuje. O to viac, že v dome Natalie je všetko plne automatizované a to predsa Kevin obzvlášť počas vianočných sviatkov miluje. História sa opakuje. Netrvá dlho, keď Kevin stretne svojich starých známych, ktorí majú svojho človeka aj v blízkom okolí Natalie. Kto iný mohol zabezpečiť zlodejov ovládaním zložitého alarmu. Situácia je o to nebzpečnejšia, že v dome sa bude nachádzať aj vzácna návšteva. Skutočný malý princ, ktorého budú chcieť Marv a Vera uniesť. Netušia však, že Kevin im nastražil tie najhrozivejšie pasce, aké si len viete predstaviť...
