Svetlou výnimkou je Rorschach, ktorý za Komediantovou vidí smrťou rozsiahle sprisahanie, ktoré má zlikvidovať alebo zdiskreditovať bývalých superhrdinov, a tým otvoriť cestu ďaleko ambicióznejšiemu a nechutnejšiemu projektu. V snahe zabrániť najhoršiemu sa Rorschach pokúsi zmobilizovať všetkých bývalých kolegov, z ktorých naozaj nadprirodzené schopnosti má v skutočnosti len jeden. Ich cieľom bude strážiť ľudstvo.
