Max je v rokoch, kedy mu všetko ide na nervy, najviac ale jeho nemožný otec Goofy. Max chce byť veľký, obdivovaný a hlavne túži po tom, aby si ho všimla jeho spolužiačka Roxane. Goofy usúdi, že by sa Max mohol veľmi rýchlo ocitnúť v chúlostivej situácií a preto ho zoberie na ryby, avšak priamo vo chvíli, kedy ide Maxovi o všetko - o priazeň Roxany aj o uznanie spolužiakov. Aby si zachoval tvár, povie im, že ho jeho otec berie na koncert populárnej rockovej hviezdy Powerlinea. Potom už stačí len pozmeniť ich mapu, ktorej Goofy bezvýhradne dôveruje, aby prázdninová cesta skončila tam, kde Max potrebuje - v Los Angeles.
